1. Reading Comprehension Questions
-What do you think will happen in this story? (before reading)
-Who was your favourite character and why?
-What was the problem in the story?
-How was the problem solved?
-What happened in the story? (sequencing the events)
-What did this story remind you of?
-Ask your child specific W5 questions related to the story.
2. Comprehension Strategies
-Before reading with your child, look at the pictures and make predictions.
-Discuss what is happening in the story as you and your child are reading.
-While reading, ask your child questions about the book and encourage them to ask questions as well.
-After reading the book, have your child retell what happened in the story.
